It includes over 180 original photos from the American and Canadian archives and songs such as Band of Brothers performed by KAS The Forces Sweetheart. Memorial Quinville
| Chronological explanation of the war and displays of French life under the occupation. Over 75 mannequins and displays as well as a reconstructed French street depicting what life was like during the war. The museum is an excellent opportunity to learn how French people lived and what they had to endure. |
Museum de la Batterie de Grisbecq
| 10 minutes from St Mere Eglise is St Marcouf. The German Marine Coastal battery Grisbecq was established at the beginning of 1942 by the Todt organisation. With its 21cm Skoda cannons, this battery commanded a wide part of the Atlantic Wall, including the bay of Vire in front of Carentan. Under the command of Oberleutnant Walter Ohmsen, the battery was instrumental in the defense against numerous assaults made by the 4th infantry Division, who landed at Utah Beach on 6th June 1944. The 80km wide battery had been completely restored so that you can walk inside the trenches and inspect the 21 dug-out shelters filled with many interesting German war time artifacts. | ![]() |
St Mere Eglise Paratrooper Museums
| There are two museums one in the shape of a parachute which has a full sized inside and the second museum has a full sized Douglas C-47 plane Argonia which was used for towing the gliders and dropping paratroopers. The church was made famous by paratrooper John Steele, who was trapped on the church when his chute got caught on the steeple. He was trapped for two hours hanging in the air amidst all of the fighting. An effigy of John Steele can be seen on the roof of the church. |
Utah Beach Museum
| This museum was created on the site of the US landing on 6th June 1944 and built around a bunker. Here you will find an excellent model explaining the landing on Utah beach. There are also films, landing craft and many models and documents bringing to life 1944 | |
St Marie Du Mont
| The museum was once a house that was used by the Germans as a garrison post. It shows life including a rest room with the use of uniformed dummies. Opening hours vary but is on the way to and from Utah Beach so there is no major diversion needed |
Dead Man's Corner Museum
| On June 8th the 101st were charged with the task of taking Carentan which was most vital. The first American tank to reach the intersection was disabled by a German rocket which killed the commander. At first the paratroopers called it ‘the corner with the dead guy in the tank’ which was later shortened to Dead Man’s corner. The museum is on this site. | |
Maisy Battery
| Unearthed after 60 years the German battery has raised new questions as to its role in the war. The site has unearthed bunkers, store rooms, a hospital and mounts for 155mm canons and accommodation for hundreds of German soldiers. The site is still under excavation and revealing more and more. However it is possible to walk around the trenches and look inside the store rooms |

Point du Hoc
![]() | To the east of Grandcamp Maisy the cliffs drastically change to a sheer 30 meter climb over the beach. Here the Germans had built a heavy artillery battery designed to protect the coastline form the allies and an obvious threat to the success of the D Day Operation. |
Omaha Beach Memorials
| There are 2 museums at Omaha Beach. The Musee Memorial at Saint-Laurent-sur-mer was founded by Madame Catherine Chartier & Daniel Trefeu. There are displays depicting daily life under the occupation and a short video. |
Batterie de Longues sur mer
![]() | Located in the area of Gold Beach there were four bunkers that were strategically placed with 150mm TBSK C/36 designed to attack any naval invasion. |
Musee du Debarquement
| The first museum to be opened in 1954 and dedicated to the difficult challenge in creating an artificial harbour. There are some remains of the harbour that can be seen from the shore. | |
Arromanches 360 Museum

Gold Beach
![]() | Situated next door to the town hall at Ver-Sur - Mer the America Gold Beach commemorates two events that took place here. The first was the crash landing of the very first mail-carrying plane from America. And on 6th June 1944 the landing of the British 50th Infantry division. |
Juno Beach
| There are 7 exhibit rooms that contain maps, artefacts videos and audio accounts of the 3rd Canadian Division on the D Day Landings. There is also a temporary exhibit room that covers a different historical or cultural theme each year. | |

Sword Beach N0 4 Comando
| Here you can retrace the epic story about the first commandos from No 4 Commando to land on Sword Beach in the early hours of 6th June 1944. | |
Atlantic Wall Museum
| A six story high Museum in the original German headquarters that was in charge of the batteries protecting the coast. The rooms on the six floors have been restored to their original condition on 6th June 1944, including the radio transmission room, sick bay and observation post with a powerful range finder giving a 360 degree view of Sword Beach. |
Musee de la Batterie de Merville
| At this battery every 30 minutes a siren announces the start of a re-enactment of the bombing of June 1944 including sound and light animation so realistic that it is not for children under the age of 8 or for those who are claustrophobic, have a nervous disposition or heart problems. | ![]() |
Pegasus Memorial
| Inside this museum are many artefacts and a film show that tells the story about the 6th Airborne division. There is also the original Pegasus Bridge preserved in the museum grounds as well as a life sized model of a glider. |
Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandie
| This museum is located in the first town to be liberated and has many displays about the liberation of Western Europe. | |
Musee Memorial du General de Gaulle
| Films, manuscripts and photos are house in the former Governors House, and the displays are dedicated to the visits by General de Gaulle to Bayeux. |
Caen Memorial
| Caen memorial museum is an extensive museum that covers the effects of the First World War and consequences that led to the Second World War. France in the dark years including resistance and collaboration and finally the Second World War and the involvement of military and civilian personnel. | |
| It concludes with the Nuremberg and Tokyo trials. It also has major exhibitions cover all aspects of modern life and events that change throughout the year. |
| This museum is devoted totally to the role of radar in the war. Situated in the original radar station at Douvres in two well preserved bunkers where you will experience the original layout. The exhibits explain the development of radar and the techniques used. |
