A UNESCO world heritage site and the second most visited place in France. Mont St Michel was created after Bishop Aubert of Avranches had a vision from Archangel Michel that ordered him to build a sanctuary on the isolated granite rock that is surrounded by the sea when the tide is in. Completed in 708 the monastry was founded in the 10th century. Not only historically interesting but the view and architecture are breathtaking. For the official Mont St Michel site click here.

MILES OF GOLDEN EMPTY BEACHES

Everyone is in such a rush to get to the south of France that the beautiful sandy beaches of Normandy are clean, fresh and uncrowded. You could be on your own tropical island. Our favourite beach is Barneville-Cartaret. Actually 2 beaches separated into two bays. The family beach is protected by the headland and life guards. Take a walk around the headland underneath the lighthouse where you will pass an ancient church ruin and fort and you will discover miles and miles of unspoilt beach flanked by sand dunes.

MARKETS AND ANTIQUE PLACES

Nobody does markets or antique markets like the French. Discover a little treasure that won't break the bank at the many Brocantes and the famous Depot Vent 10 minutes away from us. Stroll through the stalls of fresh fruit, vegetables and cheeses and for the strong stomached the famous Calvados cider.
